Always the Same

I’m telling you. I keep seeing the same posts on my BlogRush widget. I mean, it’s not that I don’t appreciate the traffic that the widget has brought me, but yeesh, can I see some new links on it please? Wow. LOL

In any case, I keep reading all over the internet about the various websites and blogs that have been Google-smacked. That is, their Google PR has been knocked clear down to 0. You’re reading one of them. Some of them, like this site, have paid posts on them. Some of them, like my friend Annie’s website, have nothing but Adsense ads on them. Now the other day, my friend Annie’s website had a PR2. Then it went to PR0. Now it’s back to PR2. But I have a site that’s old enough for a PR, but doesn’t have one, and it’s Adsense only. No paid posts, no plans for paid posts.

Some people are calling for the boycotting of Google. That’s getting to be pretty hard what with Google seeming to own half the internet. I mean, honestly, can YOU live without your YouTube or Gmail? Me either. So I figure it this way. Eventually Google will either see that it’s pointless to punish people for doing what they see fit with their own websites, or people will stop caring about Google’s PR. So there you have that.

So, all my fellow bloggers. How are you doing with the Google PR thing? Myself, I think it ludicrous that one entity has so much sway over the way people create links to other sites. Is it better to have more outgoing or incoming? People with paid links should get penalized (how stupid when Google themselves have a method of paying you for showing links THEY choose), people who have “unnatural linking schemes” should be penalized. I think it’s all stupid and I could care less to tell the truth about any of it.

I have too much in my own real life to worry about to be worrying about what Google and their mystery algorithms think of my website. Rank me as you please Google, I could honestly care less.

At this very moment, I’m working on figuring out how I’m going to pay my bills next paycheck since I happen to have missed 3 days due to bronchitis and laryngitis. My voice is coming back, thank Goddess, and I’m hoping to be able to return to work tomorrow. On top of this, I’ve got Yahoo! being a bunch of morons (big surprise there), a dog who thinks that since I’m sick I need to walk him 15 times a day, and a DVR that has been sorely neglected. I’m multitasking right now, watching the shows taped on the DVR and blogging at the same time.

And while I was more than proud to go pink in October for Breast Cancer Awareness, I am VERY happy to say that I will be changing the theme tomorrow night. Pink is not my color and honestly, I can’t wait to change the theme again. :)
