Once again it is time to start trolling online and in brick & mortar stores for the perfect card and gift to give Mom. Yes ladies and gentlemen, readers of all ages, it is time to look for those mothers day gifts Sunday, May 13, 2012 is approaching fast – just 3 weeks away!
When I was younger, in school, and not working because I was too young, my mom would always do one of two things – she would either give me a certain amount of money to purchase her gift with OR she would have me pick out the gift, take it to the register and she would look the other way until the cashier had bagged it and handed it to me. That way I could pick out what I wanted without worrying I didn’t have enough money. Yes, either way meant my mom was paying for her own Mother’s Day gift, but since by that time I didn’t get an allowance, that was the only way I was going to get her a gift.
I used to pick out the coolest gifts for her too. She was into little knick-knacks, so one year I got her this little decoration – 3 crystal roses on a mirrored base with a crystal heart at the base of the roses. She loved that thing. One year, after I started working, I bought her a porcelain doll because she loved porcelain dolls. My mom had quite the doll collection – not as big as some, but not little either. Moving was a pain because of those dolls. LOL
The only gift I never got her was a Mother’s ring. I started to, but my brothers, who had said they would help with it, decided after I had put it on layaway that they weren’t going to help with it and I couldn’t afford to pay my bills and keep up with the layaway payments on the ring, so I had to have them forget about it. Fortunately, I found out that the jewelry store didn’t customize the rings until they were fully paid for, otherwise I’d have been up a creek because I’d have been required to pay off the ring regardless.
What, in your opinion, was the best Mother’s Day present you ever gave your Mom? And, if you are a Mom, what is the best Mother’s Day present you ever received?

I am finding more and more that I am growing bored with the world of the internet. Funny since my major is Information Technology and Web Design – so my client base would be working with the internet – that I am becoming increasingly bored with the internet.
I still like to read my favorite blogs on a daily basis – I visit all the blogs on this blog, all the blogs that are not duplicates on The Divine Ms Charity and all the blogs in the blog roll on my book reviews blog each day – or close to each day as I can. But the fact of the matter is, most of those blogs don’t have new posts except for once every two or three days – sometimes weeks or months go by without a new post and although I keep visiting to see if there is anything new, I’m starting to feel like it is all rather pointless.
I have Facebook and Twitter, but except for a couple of people, I don’t engage with people on either of those, and the few people I do attempt to engage tend to ignore me for the most part. I still comment on photos and updates, and I still share things that my friends share on Facebook, but for the most part, I’m only there to play games and even then, I don’t play the games as much as I used to. Many of the games that I used to love such as Cafe World, FarmVille, and Hidden Chronicles have become boring to me.
I have MSN and I sign in, but no one really messages me on it. I stopped using AIM because no one was using it anymore. I mostly use Facebook to chat with friends when I do chat with friends, but most of the time I keep my Facebook chat turned off due to a couple of people that I can’t bring myself to delete, but that bug the crap out of me (no, Sid, not you lol). Even then, only the people who bug me and my awesome friend Sid really talk to me on Facebook. >.<
Have you ever become bored with the internet? What did you do? Did you disconnect for a while? I can't disconnect completely because I have school which is totally online and I have my business which is pretty much totally online. I can disconnect from Facebook and from Twitter I suppose, but blogging brings me some money so I can't leave off my blogging.
Ugh, I'm in an internet funk and don't know what to do about it. >.<

Our church needs a few things for new equipment when it comes to the worship team. We need some new hookups that ground correctly and we need new monitors for up on the “stage” where we play. We also need more microphones and microphone stands so that there can be a microphone everywhere there needs to be one without having to drag mics around the stage area.
I, being the rocker chick that I am and being so used to flashy light shows and the like with my music, am almost tempted to ask if we can get some leds to put up around the church and give it a concert feel.
I’m sure they’d say no, but I suppose it wouldn’t hurt to try. After all, I’m not the only rocker on the worship team – the drummer is used to playing in a hard rock/metal band, so he’s always wanting to play the worship songs that way.
What do you think? You think some flashy led lights would be cool for the worship team?

So last week I made my singing debut with the praise and worship team. Normally I play the two songs on the flute and then go sit down, but last week I decided that since they’re going to put microphones near me to amplify my flute, I may as well stay up there and sing. It didn’t go as badly as I thought.
This week I told the worship team leader that I would sing with them since they didn’t have anything for me to play on the flute. He offered to switch a song out to give me a flute piece, but I said no, I’d just sing. So that’s what I’ll be doing tomorrow – oh wait, today. LOL I’ll be singing with the worship team. This should be fairly interesting.
Maybe I’ll blog the experience after church and supper are over.
