I love how my workplace works. My co-worker comes in sick for two weeks straight, coughing, sneezing, spitting in the garbage cans, they commend him on being so dedicated to the job. I call in because I’m coughing, sneezing, puking (TMI, I know) and other things, and they threaten me with termination of employment.
Why is it that employers tell you when you first start that if you’re sick, you need to stay home and get better, but when you do, then they turn around and tell you that they’ll have to fire you for attendance issues. Excuse me, but frankly, if I’m coming in to work sick and making those around me sick, I should not be commended for being dedicated to the job. I should be told that I need to get my butt back home and stay there until I’m well. End of story.
I’m so sick of workplaces that say one thing and then do another. I really am. This is just BS. No, I haven’t been fired, that I know of, but I might be when I go back on Friday. Who knows?
