My So-Called Life
Writing
I have loved to write ever since I was a kid. I used to write all the time. I wrote stories, articles for the school paper, poems, you name it, I wrote it. We did all sorts of writing exercises when I was in 8th grade English and I loved it. I wanted to take Creative Writing in high school, it was either that or another writing class that I can’t think of the name of. The Creative Writing class was considered an “easy” class and so my guidance counselor, feeling I needed to be challenged, would not allow me to take Creative Writing. Instead I was parked in that class, which I failed miserably due to not being able to attend. (A little difficult when you are in a cast, on crutches, and ordered by the doctor to stay at home.)
So when I failed that class I thought they’d let me take the Creative Writing instead. Nope. Our school district has a policy that if you fail a particular class, you have to take it again until you pass. If it is a required course, you won’t graduate until you do pass it. I passed the second time I took it so that was all good. But it wasn’t the kind of writing I wanted to do. I wanted to write fiction and these were basically research papers. I didn’t want to write research papers. I still don’t actually.
Which is why I am blogging right now. I am in the process of writing two “novels.” At least one of them is intended to be a “serial” novel that will be published via my website Charity L Gamble. The other will either become a serial as well, or will be published – either by attempting to get an agent and publisher or by self-publishing via Lulu, where I have already created an account.
I will let you, my blog readers, know when I have posted any of my serial novel so that you may go an read it. I will be putting up a forum on that site as well so that readers can discuss what they have read of the novel so far. I am hoping that it will 1) get my writing seen, and 2) help me grow as a writer. So stay tuned for news on my impending serial novel release on my other website.
