Wireless

If there’s one thing I’ve learned by being a tech support professional, it’s that everyone wants to hook up their laptop with a wireless connection. And I do mean everyone. And nine times out of ten, for whatever reason, it’s not working. The worst for me is when the customer provides their own router. Why? Because then I have to make them directly connect the modem to their computer. And they never want to do that. Especially when the modem and router are in the garage, basement, or attic, and they don’t want to have to go there to check on anything. My question is: why on earth would you put your modem and router anywhere but near the main computer? And yes, this is a big question among all of the support professionals at work. Why on earth would you do that? Any ideas out there? Besides “that’s how the tech set it up when he installed my internet.” LOL
