What is it with all the darned comment spam? I swear, no matter how I handle my comments, I have spam coming out my ears in regards to comments. I have to go through my Disqus and delete a bunch of them that have shown up in the past couple of weeks. Why is it that people cannot seem to stop putting in spam comments?
Honestly I don’t understand it. Do you think you’re pulling a fast one? Do you honestly think I believe your name is Cat Treats or Women’s Underwear or whatever it is you’ve put down for your name? Do you honestly think that I can’t recognize a URL that wouldn’t belong to a blog? Or that I don’t notice the umpteen different names you give and different URL’s you give with the same email address? Sheesh people! Give it up!
Bloggers all over the world are figuring you out. We know that you use the same email address even if you don’t use the same name. We know you use the same lame comments all the freakin’ time! We know your tricks and we don’t succumb to them. We delete your comments, we get plugins like Bad Behavior and Akismet to try and stop you, and we rant and rave about your stupidity, letting the world know we’re on to you via our blogs. Yet you continue to bombard our comments with spam.
Please tell me why you bother. Why do you continue to do these things even though you already know that it won’t do you a bit of good. That your links, if they are even seen, will probably not last more than a day or two at the most. Why do you do it? You even pick posts that are older than dirt that no one is reading to post the comments to, because you’re looking for nothing more than the PR you think MIGHT come from it. Guess what? My blog is a PR0! That means you are HURTING YOURSELF by trying to get links from my blog to yours! Your PR is not going to go up because I’m linking to you because I don’t have PR myself!
Remember the golden PR rule – if you link to low PR blogs and/or low PR blogs link to you – you get slammed for it. I lost my PR on this blog a long time ago and let me tell you, I doubt it will ever come back. Save yourself the trouble. Stop bugging me and stop bugging everyone else. Pretty soon you’re gonna end up getting canned.
