Music is everywhere. Bands have pages on MySpace where you can not only “friend” the band, but you can also listen to songs, get materials such as banners, etc to promote the bands, and even leave comments for the band. Bands have pages on Facebook as well, where you can leave comments etc, but the Facebook pages seem to leave you a little cold – you can say you’re a fan, but not a “friend” of the band’s. )

Personally, if a band I like has a MySpace page, I will friend them if only because that way when they have announcements, when they send out the bulletins I will get them. I also friend unsigned bands if they are any good, because that way they know that someone supports them. If the band also has a Facebook page, I will “fan” them so that they know that yes, they have fans there too. However, I do wish the Facebook pages were a bit more interactive and more like the MySpace pages. I am not a big fan of MySpace to be honest, and really only keep the MySpace account for friends who do not have Facebook and for bands so I can check out new songs, etc.

Do you friend bands on MySpace or become a fan on Facebook? If so, do you friend/fan bands of only one specific genre or do you go for any genre? And finally, unsigned bands only, signed bands only, or both??
