Just Because…

I work for AT&T doesn’t mean I know everything there is to know about it. I spend 8 hours a day on the phone, answering questions about everything from how to block people you don’t want calling you from doing so (unless you pay for Smart Limits, you can’t) to iphone accessories. It can get hectic and let me say, I have one major pet peeve when I’m working.

People who do not read their bills. Really, how hard is it to read your bill? Seriously. I mean, if I open a bill that is higher than I expect it to be, I am all on that, looking for what caused it to go up. But I don’t call the company who sent me the bill and say “why is my bill so high” or worse “I can’t pay this, and if I have to pay it, I’ll cancel my service.” People think those last are the magic words. Guess what, you cancel service, you still have to pay the bill, plus the final bill, which most of the time includes an early termination fee for the contract. Way to go, you’ve just basically threatened us with having to bill you for even more money. Unfortunately, being a business, we’re not scared of that.

However, if you have already read the bill and are questioning something about it, by all means, call in. But really, don’t call just because you have international roaming charges and your phone did not say it was roaming. Think about it. If you aren’t in the US, you’re roaming. )
