Insure Me
Ok, so it’s been almost 3 years since I’ve actually driven. I have a valid license (which expires on my birthday in 2011). I just don’t have a car. While BFL’s mom has a car – yes it is HER car, her name is no it, not BFL’s – and BFL is the driver of said car, as I am not on the insurance, I do not drive it. Ok, so I drove it for a few feet today when we pulled it out of the snowbank for (thank you snow plows for burying it again) the umpteenth time it seems this winter (ok, only second but who is counting anyway?). Yay.
Truthfully after the fiasco BFS went through when she bought a car (in her name, but we paid for it, long story) for us and had to put insurance on it, I wouldn’t even want them to attempt it. See, BFS went through their insurance company that they had at the time and their agent was adamant that I could not be on the policy – even though the company put me on the policy after we threatened to leave if she didn’t add me – saying that it wasn’t legal for someone who is not a family member to be on your policy? Why the heck not? Plenty of couples no longer get married – they just live together, buy cars together, and put each other on their insurance.
So then BFS switched to some discount auto insurance company who was more than happy to put me on the policy and was even better than the original company when BFS got rear-ended. What is worse??? The original company is a well known company who has in the past, and probably still does but I don’t pay attention, sponsored NASCAR drivers! Just goes to show that big-name and well-known aren’t always the best!
