I have no problem with those who believe they may need a bit of medical assistance losing weight. I’ve thought about it more than once myself. Seriously. And hey, if it’s in the form of a pill then that’s fine. But I have a co-worker who started taking a recently released over-the-counter pill that WAS a prescription ONLY drug, and is NOT having her doctor monitor her at all. In fact, her doctor doesn’t even know about it. To me, since most of the prescription ones are prescription because they are addicting, I’d rather see her taking hoodia or something like that. I mean, yes, to each their own, but still.
I guess I’ve had that mentality since I worked at the hospital and we almost lost one of our housekeepers due to a diet pill that contained something she was allergic to. Her kidneys shut down, among other things. Now she’s terrified of any diet aids and will tell anyone she finds taking them about her own experience. Yes, hers was due to an allergy to an ingredient, but still, it proves a point about what these pills can do when you aren’t being monitored by your doctor.
I just hope my co-worker doesn’t suffer any ill effects from this. She’s got 2 little girls at home, both under the age of 5.
