Being debt free is a goal that 99.9% of Americans currently have from what I’ve been able to tell. Or at least it seems that way. The financially free and secure are few and far between no matter what anyone tells you. Honestly, if you don’t believe me, just take a look around you at everyone you know. Are any of them financially secure and free? I’d be willing to bet not. I’ve been considering doing a debt consolidation but I’m still not sure about it. I’ve heard good things and bad things about them. I know that if done correctly, you can end up making one single monthly payment that is lower than your monthly payments to each creditor combined. However with all the scams and services that have been closed down (a friend of mine was a victim of one of those – she wasn’t even notified when the Feds shut them down and her bills stopped being paid) it’s hard to know what is and is not a legit service. Research is going to be the key here. Lots and lots of research. :/
