If you happened upon Gothic Peach earlier today, you might have seen something a bit odd. No posts. No working pages either. You see, sometime between 6:30AM when I headed for bed and when I logged on at 9:30PM, my database was corrupted. Literally, it deleted all my posts and all my pages. I had nothing. I was about to cry, especially since for some reason, my database backup plugin was not configured anymore.
Well, I decided to contact HostGator and see if there was anything they could do to help me out. Mind you, when I first started with them, something similar happened and they said I would be charged to fix the issue. I ended up fixing the issue myself, but this time I couldn’t. So I decided to use their live chat support feature. My tech support person was able to fix the issue quickly, bringing back all of my posts and pages in a few minutes. I am so grateful to him!
I have re-configured my database backup plugin, and have it set to send to a gmail account twice daily backups of this domain’s blog. I am never going to allow this domain database to NOT get backed up again! I don’t know what was going on, since it HAD been configured previously, but that’s in the past. It’s configured now and it’ll stay that way.
