After the Memorial Service
Dad’s memorial service was today. A few tears shed, quite a bit of laughs (Dad was fond of jokes, especially groaners), but all in all a good service. Fortunately for Dad he’ll never have to wear a tuxedo again.
Unfortunately for my BFL, if and when she ever gets married, she won’t have Dad to walk her down the aisle. Just one of the many things about having lost Dad that stinks. The other is, frankly, we’re all going to miss him like crazy.
The memorial service was beautiful and very well done. It was also very much like Dad, which was the whole point. A lot of funerals/memorial services I’ve been to have been more about the living people than the deceased. Nice to see one that is about the deceased, not the living.
