Accident Prone

Ask any of my friends about me and one of the first things they’ll probably mention is that I am accident prone. If I can injure myself, I probably will. I have broken a toe walking up the aisle at the movie theater. I have sprained my ankle doing nothing more than swimming. Yes, swimming. So of course, it stands to reason that as I have a knee that has arthritis in it, if I can find a way to make it hurt, I probably will.

And I did. We went grocery shopping today. By the end of the shopping trip my feet hurt because silly me wore the wrong shoes to go shopping in. That figures and it isn’t the first time I’ve done it. But then as I’m helping to bring in the groceries from the car, I go up one of the steps and realize quickly I went up the step wrong.

You see, when I had the surgery on my feet the first thing they told me was that when going up and down stairs, it works like this: going down, put the bad foot/leg down first, then the good leg. Going up, put the good foot/leg up first, then bring the bad one up. Yep, you guessed it. I put the right leg up on the step (bad knee) and went up. Good grief, my knee STILL hurts and throbs.

If I had the money and insurance (being unemployed sucks) I could go into the doctor’s office for a cortisone shot. However, after the last debacle with that, I’m thinking not. Yeah. Not into freaking out over a big long needle again, thanks. Plus, I can just imagine the cost of that since I don’t have any insurance anymore and I don’t have any money. No thanks. I’ll live with it. In the mean time, Aleve will be my friend. )
