A New House
Not for me, but for my boss. She bought a house.
I’m so happy for her, because she’s in a neighborhood that’s worse than mine. She won’t even walk her dogs there because it’s so bad, and she’s got BIG dogs! THAT is bad! I told her she needed to get some brand new teak furniture for her new place. She laughed at me, but said that it sounded like a good idea. LOL I figured new house, new furniture.
I remember when my ex-roomie and I moved into a house that she bought. Personally, I thought she was nuts for having bought the house in the first place when the two of us could barely afford to pay the bills in the apartment we were renting, and the rent there was half what the house payment was, and we didn’t have to pay the water bill at the apartment! But she did it, and we made it by, but barely. Now that I’m here in Iowa, I wonder sometimes if she’s managed to keep her house or not. I’m sure she has because she swore that if necessary she could make all the bills by herself. It just makes me wonder if she really could or not. I have her phone number, but we parted company under strained terms and I haven’t spoken to her at all since I left Texas. Maybe I’ll try writing her just to say hello and that I was thinking about her. If the letter comes back, I’ll know she moved.
