I Won’t Let It Get Me Down
Aside from my rant I am not letting this crap with the food stamps get me down. My goal was to get off the food stamps eventually anyway, it just happened earlier than I needed it to.
But I’m busy – making scarves – for a rock band (9 Left Dead) no less – making jewelry for my shop, and getting ready to open up the new shop that my best friend and I are doing together. We are starting small, just getting a few things here and there, but we hope to make this business take off. After all, people around our area seem to be very interested in handmade candles & bath products.
As for my education? If the government (I’m thinking the conditions regarding food stamps if you are in school full time are a federal regulation as it seems that this is not the only state that has this requirement) doesn’t want me to be able to eat and go to school at the same time, I’ll find another way to eat – but I am not giving up my education. Sorry to burst the bubbles of those people who might read my blog and think “oh, she’ll quit school and sit on her ass doing nothing now so she can get her food stamps back.” Nope – I did *not* take out $9500 in student loans so far, with another $9500 coming in November, to quit school because some government agency tells me that I’m not allowed to be a full time student without working and still get food stamps.
I’m going to get my Associates, go on to get my Bachelors, and maybe even my Masters. My plans for my future are not going to be derailed by this. It isn’t going to get me down, and that is that.
