Happy New Year’s Eve!

Monday, December 31st, 2007

I’m sure I’ll be back just after midnight with the Happy New Year post, but right now I’m frustrated. I have an extremely sore throat and once again, I was sent home from work, because my voice went down the tubes. So tonight it’s drinking tea and watching TV for me. *sigh* Oh yeah, and upgrading far too many WordPress installations. Sheesh! LOL

Season of Giving

Sunday, December 30th, 2007

Right now, we’re still somewhat entrenched in the season of giving. Which is why I’ve come to think about the ways that one can give back to the community. A lot of people don’t know about charities where you can do something like make a car donation. These charities turn your old car into cash to further their charitable works. Take Car Angel for example. Car Angel is a charity organization that turns your car in the cash, which they then use to make all sorts of videos which are distributed free to kids and teens. We’re talking about videos such as this one here -

They’ve given away over 2.4 million of their videos already. I am definitely thinking this is a worth cause to donate that old clunker of a car that one might have sitting in their driveway to.

The Mall

Friday, December 28th, 2007

If there is one thing I must admit I dislike, it is going to the mall. Our mall is always packed, no matter what the time of year. But if it’s after school gets out for the day or during a break, such as now, it’s even worse. Kids are everywhere, teenagers mostly, but they are everywhere and they have absolutely no respect for anyone else. They don’t care if you’re there for books, Adidas golf equipment, or goth and punk clothing, they will not move out of your way for anything. And yet mall security sees nothing wrong with kids as young as 10 running around the mall without parents. It’s disgusting. I can’t understand parents anymore. They think that the toy department or the mall is a good place to get rid of their kids for a while. Well, it’s also a good place to get rid of them permanently. One never knows who might be lurking at the mall.

Special Delivery

Friday, December 28th, 2007

I ordered some books on Amazon the other day and had them shipped to my best friend LaShawn’s house. Why did I do that? Because people like to steal packages around here. Our mailboxes aren’t the greatest things, and they’re definitely not secure. Anyone can open it up and snag what they want out of it. I wish we had one like the building across the street. They have mailboxes that lock, with a bigger mailbox that packages are placed in. The mail carrier leaves a key to that one in your mailbox if you get a package and then you leave the key in that bigger box when you retrieve your package. That’s the way I wish my building’s mailboxes were. Besides the fact that I haven’t gotten any mail for 2 days now. Grrrrr.

Speaking of books, I got 3 new ones and a journal at Barnes & Noble tonight. I’m not a big fan of that particular store, especially upon discovering that they only carry about 10 Dragonlance books when there are far more than that in the list! But I got Using Your Chakras by Ruth White, Celtic Moon Signs by Helena Paterson, and The Vampire - His Kith & Kin by Montague Summers. Should be some interesting reads…well if you like New Age and Vampire books. )
