What The Heck??

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

I was reading this article about a woman in New Zealand last night. The poor woman had been ill since February and hadn’t been able to work. She’d gotten behind on her power bill and the power company cut it off. You’re probably thinking that this is run of the mill, you don’t pay your bill, you get your power cut off. But here’s the problem. The woman was on an electric oxygen compressor. When the technician from the power company came to the house, they even told him she had it and offered to let him see it! But they still turned off the power. I have two concerns here:

1. If the family knew, as they claim since they provided one of the past due bills to the police, that she was behind on her payments, why didn’t someone pay it for her knowing she was ill??

2. If that technician was told there was a compressor in there and was invited to come in and see it for himself, wouldn’t that tip you off that the people were telling the truth and that you’d better leave the power on?

Honestly, I don’t know what the world is coming to when people who are on oxygen can’t even be assured that if they get behind because being ill has cost them their jobs, they won’t lose their power and end up dying from lack of oxygen.

I love contests!

Wednesday, May 30th, 2007

Ok, I’m a sucker for contests. I don’t know why, but I am. And over at GeekySpeaky.com, Colleen is running geekyspeaky giveaways beginning on June 1st. I’m not sure what the prizes will be, but I do know they’re “geeky” prizes. Perhaps a video/computer game? A flash drive?? (I could use one of those myself, LOL.) Hmmm, geeky possibilities are almost endless. Some sort of cool software? Wow, I’m really curious now. Guess I’ll have to make sure I pop over there and check it out on June 1st! Anyone with me??

Buzz: In My Bag

Wednesday, May 30th, 2007

One of my favorite blogs to read has a blog up that I just loved. It’s called In My Bag, and she reviews products that she has used. This isn’t your typical product review blog, where products are just posted for the sake of getting paid. While Jenn has already said she’d be doing PPP on that blog, she does review real products that she, herself, has used for herself, her kids, etc. She doesn’t pull any punches and if she doesn’t like a product, she’ll tell you and she’ll tell you exactly why she didn’t like it. It’s a great site, so I hope you’ll all give her a visit and lots of love!

Weight Loss

Wednesday, May 30th, 2007

As you know, I am trying to lose weight. It’s not always easy, that’s for sure. I’ve often thought about what I would do if conventional methods, such as diet and exercise didn’t work. How extreme would I go if I couldn’t lose the weight I need to lose. Would I go so far as to literally starve myself? I doubt it, since I love food too much to ever consider that. Would I throw everything back up after I ate it? Nope. I throw up enough because of my acid reflux disease, so forget that. Not making myself do it, no way, no how. So what would I do?

Well, I might consider having weight loss surgery, specifically lap band surgery. I’ve considered gastric bypass as well, but find that bypass is too permanent. Lap band can be readjusted or removed if necessary. One of my resources for lap band surgery is MyLapBandSurgery.com. They provide wonderful information for anyone who is considering having lap band surgery to lose weight. They also discuss gastric bypass, so people can make informed decisions and decide precisely which one they would prefer to have. There is also a toll-free number that US residents can call at 1-866-309-0036. If you live somewhere other than the US and want to speak with someone about this, you can call 386-206-9358.

Another thing I have to say I liked about MyLapBandSurgery.com was that they are a great resource for people who have already had weight loss surgery. They help thousands of people each year work through the changes in life and lifestyle that lap band or gastric bypass surgery requires. So MyLapBandSurgery.com is there to help me before and after I have the surgery done.

Another thing that I’ve seen from going to www.mylapbandsurgery.com is that it can actually be more cost effective to use a Lap Band Surgeon Mexico. The site shows how safe and cost effective it is to have the surgery done in Mexico, as well as how helpful it is to go there to do it. So if you’re thinking about having weight loss surgery, check MyLapBandSurgery.com out and see what you think about it.
