Pondering….

Tuesday, September 26th, 2006

I’m pondering a question a co-worker asked me the other day. What am I doing at Mercy? She asked me that after I was able to recall the exact room numbers of all the rooms I had cleaned the day before on our OB ward. She said that I’m so intelligent and have such a great memory, that I should get out of there. Well, I’m trying I guess. I enrolled for Web Site Design with an online school. I plan on doing more than just that, but right now, that’s a start.

I’m so tired. The weekend was hell, and I’m just ready for a vacation. But I can’t take one right now because we have too many people that are on vacation or on medical leave at the moment. Besides, I don’t have enough vacation hours right now. I need at least 40 hours to take a week’s vacation. And I don’t have 40 hours. Bleh. All I’d do is spend it reading or cross stitching. LOL

As I said before, I’m planning on starting to review books. I’m also going to start keeping a list of the books I’ve read. Just for reference sake. ) I guess I’ll go for now. Don’t have much to say. I’ll leave you with a book that I highly recommend. I read it several months ago and it was awesome!

Randomness

Saturday, September 23rd, 2006

This is the kind of stuff I like to read about in the news: Alaska Man Offers Friend His Kidney I mean…. it’s heartwarming to know that people DO still care about one another. At least sometimes they do. )

Work today was just freakish. I’m sooooo tired. We had dismissals out our ears plus we had to do a bunch of areas as well. I can definitely say it wasn’t fun. Plus they called a fire alarm in the kitchen, and it turned out that someone was horsing around and sprayed the fire alarm and it set off the system. Now as a housekeeper, we have to respond to those things. I was in the North building on the 9th floor, and had to take the stairs all the way to 5th floor, across the skywalk, down the stairs to 3rd floor….and I have a gel-brace on my left ankle because I sprained it 3 weeks ago and it’s STILL killing me. UGH! But I suppose it’s better than being bored. lol

Speaking of the gel-brace…..I’m allergic to the stupid thing. If I don’t have a sock under it at all times, I blister like nobody’s business. The other night, I blistered and I’d only had it on for 2 hours and I’d sat still except for one trip to the bathroom! So I know it isn’t because the brace rubs my leg. *sigh* Good thing I have a doctor’s appointment on the 4th of October. I’ll have to have them check my ankle, because it’s not getting better, in fact it’s getting worse!

One of the gals in lab gave me a catalog of needlework items. I’ve already found a ton of patterns in there that I want desperately. I must find money to purchase these patterns. LOL I simply must. )

Don’t forget Nile’s Annual Pink Giveaway!

Ok, I’m rambling. LOL I’m out of here. Talk to you later. )

I’m FREEZING!!

Wednesday, September 20th, 2006

I swear, if I didn’t know better, I’d say it was below freezing. I’m bundled up in a sweatshirt but still….I’m cold! However, according to the local TV station’s weather website, it IS 34 outside! Which means it’s probably 40-55 in my apartment. BRRRR!!!!!!

They’re celebrating Environmental Services week at work. In other words, they’re celebrating housekeeping. lol The only problem I have with this is that it’s our supervisors who do things for us. Not the rest of the hospital. For the most part, the rest of the hospital couldn’t care less about it being Environmental Services week. Go figure. (

I’m starting to get tired of my Hallowe’en layout. I may change it, I may not. I haven’t really decided yet.

I joined Nile’s contest. You really ought to check it out! The grand prize is awesome and so are the 2nd and 3rd prizes! ) Go to the Annual Pink Giveaway!

I got 2 new books today. I love being a member of Literary Guild. Now I just need to pay off my account. LOL Whoops! I got John Saul’s In The Dark of Night & Kay Hooper’s Sleeping with Fear. I can’t wait to read them! ) I love books! LOL

I’m going to start reviewing books. I’m not very good at it, but….I’m going to give it a shot. )

If you’d like to check out the books I mentioned above, click the following images:

In the Dark of the Night: A Novel Sleeping with Fear (Fear (Hardcover))

Well, I suppose I’d better go for now. It’s almost 4AM and I really need to get myself to bed. I have to work tomorrow unfortunately. Talk to you later.

Picnics & Such

Sunday, September 17th, 2006

Well, I should finally be done with picnics for the year. I went to the employee picnic for Mercy yesterday. It was pretty fun. Mostly what they do is have a caterer come in and do fried chicken, this really yummy hashbrown thing, baked beans, and a couple of salads, and play bingo for prizes. I got 2 prizes, both things I needed for my apartment, so it was cool. I got a 14 piece kitchen knife set and a 4 piece bakeware set. Pics below.

Please excuse the mess on the table. I really need to clean the house. In fact, that’s actually what I’m supposed to be doing right now. LOL I probably should get in gear otherwise I won’t be done by the time Unforgiven comes on, and I’m ordering that PPV. Guess I’ll go for now. Talk to you later!
